PC Imaging Software help???????
back in february a friend installed this imaging software onto my pc. he took an image of it and burned them to disk in case i needed to restore my pc to that point. i got a new pc and tried to restore the other to give to my son to learn on, instead of buying him a new one. I cant remember the imaging software title and i need to find it. if i saw the title i would recognise it, but all my software searches turn up nothing!!
  basically I'd like to know of any software that makes pc imagess etc so i can possibly find it.(i need to find it bcuz in my attempt to restore the pc to that image something went wrong!! now all my pc does is give me a message saying theres no OS on that system!! I'm at a loss here.  if i can find it i can figure out what went wrong)unless you have any ideas on how to fix that system, i'm all ears...otherwise just throw some imaging program names at me!! thx a ton!! PS: in case ur wondering why i dont ask that friend...turns out he's an idiot! thanx again!! |

I don't think you want to put a image from one system to a differant system, it won't work.
some of the programs are norton ghost drive image there are more but can't think of them right now |

no, this image was made from that system. but when i tried to restore it screwed up. now, i have nothing. the one called Drive Image looks familiar. do you know where i can find this download...or if its even available online. i'd like to at least put it on this pc so i can search the program for any help it might provide. and also, if i can at least get that other pc to boot up...then have that software to install...i could then use the imaging disks that were made for it.

thx again. i found the Powerquest Drive Image software i need. hopefullyit will help me figure out how to fix that mess!! unless anyone has any ideas???? all i get when i boot the pc is "no operating system found". bla bla bla...  anywho, i like this forum so far...hopefully theres sum cool folks that i can look to if and when I screw up!(and i say whencuz it WILL HAPPEN!)as long as its not on this new pc!  ty Pee'j |

If that image file is indeed from Drive Image, then you should be able to restore the backup from there.
Sounds like Windows (?) has been seriously trashed or deleted if you are getting that error message. An alternative would be to backup any data you need, and re-install totally clean from the install disks. David. |

The files on the Cd will have an extension of .PQI if it is a drive Image file or a .gho for Ghost.
If it is a drive image file you need to make a 2 floppy disk boot set and that will let you reinstall the image. You may have to add a cd-rom driver to the first disk in the set. YOu can get them at www.bootdisk.com |
