i was able to get powerquest drive image 2002 onto my new pc and from there created the rescue disks. i then used them to boot the screwed up pc and use the drive image software. when i restored i ended up restoring to the image we saved before burning the newer image. so, the pc is now running win98se again. i'd like to restore the newer images we burned back in february...after we upgraded alot of stuff...
whew...deep breath before i continue. my problem is now that i have the pc at least running...i cant seem to get the image we burned to disks restored. it seems to be going ok until it tells me the file needs to be opened then a bit later says something like the file needed isnt on the removable media. im getting confused...lol obviously im not familiar with restoring pc images etc...but the guy who made them is acting like a %*^# and wont answer my emails!!! (bites my tounge!!)oh well ![]() anywho...and simple advice?? even if i screw up i at least know how to get it back to where it is now! lol thx Pee'j

The problem is that image files burned to CD aren't as reliable as image files saved to another partition or physical hard drive.
I find that image files that are going to go onto CD do better with hard drives that haven't been gone over with a defrag and eraser program. Apparently, the disk is already compressed and Drive Image wants to recompress them. Anyway, that's my experience. If you have another hard drive or partition on that drive, you might try to copy the file to the hard drive and run it from there. |

I'm glad it worked out. Remeber, things that affect recording to CD will also affect Drive Image files on CD.
