get rid of "ok to shut down pc" screen...

new install of XP Pro. How to make it shut down automatically instead having to press the power button.

Its not really bad when the window asks you to either shutdown or restart anyways I don't know if you can remove that.

There is a way to remove it, the screen is just a reminant of the old AT days, when the switch was directly attaced to the PSU, and not the moterboard, which is the case in the new atx systems

It's ACPI. It must be enabled (in BIOS) so that Windows can turn the PC automatically off.
Also in device manager under computer it needs to be ACPI-PC.

Make sure power management by APM is enabled in the bios, open power options in control panel, look for the APM tab, and enable it.
