windows messenger removal

hi all. as the title says , how do i remove windows messenger ?? ive recently upgraded to msn messenger 6 , and now i have 2 messengers , which both try to sign on when i connect to the net !!!
i thought the new msn would update the old one , not install a second version !!

Windows Messenger is loacted in the Windows Component area of Add/Remove Prgrams in the Control Panel, ust remove the on eyou don't need

In XP heres how it goes:
Control Panel>add or Remove Programs>Click Add/Remove Windows Components (Will take about a second or two)> Uncheck Windows Messenger>Clcik Next>And Then Clcik finish after its done.

I'm having a similar problem removing the windows media player. It doesn't seem to be listed in the add/remove programs. Does anyone know someway else I could remove it?
