Nero Video Format vs Data Format

If you are burning video files, I guess you can burn a CD in the Video format or in the Data Format. I know the data format just copies the video files as they are but what does the Video format do.

The video format such as VCD and SVCD creates a compliant Video-CD or Super Video-CD that can be played in DVD players that accept the format. Nero will also handle the encoding if necessary to create the type of CD that you specify.
