Nero or CD drive, that is the question

Hi guys
I'm using a Nero to burn cds and I have a stupid question here.

It will not burn a 12x cd only 4x.That would be because of my cd drive right?and not thew nero?

I'm not sure, check the attachement I get this error when I use the 12x disk, the other disks are fine.
Thanks
John

it will only burn at the speed of the burner and then only as fast as the meaduam you are burning too.

looks like that error is for no drive selectted

I haven't used Nero much, but there should be a setting for the speed of the drive you are using and the disc...although I can't imagine why Nero couldn't detect one or the other.
Look around in the settings for disc and default drive speed...what speed is the drive you have installed? What drive are you using? like bailey mentioned, you are limited by your drive speed first...then the disc speed. (if the drive speed is less than the disc it can and will only record at that drive speed) let us know....

are the other discs you mention (that work ok) cdrw, or are they just cdr?
and have you formatted the disc that won't work? in order to write to and erase cdrw (I believe it's called something like "open session") in easycd creater on my machine (plextor 241040) the cdrw has to be formatted. I believe in Nero the part of the program that will format the cdrw is called InCD....

They are cdrw disks

The disks that do not work were already made by another computer, maybe that's why it don't work.Could be the other computer formatted the disk huh?

I have read that there are some brands of cd's that don't work good in some brands of recorders.

there is no such thing as any cdr or cdrw that will run perfectly in all recorders.

Hi John,
it very well could be that the disc, being formatted on another machine and maybe even another program, is the problem.
you can reformat the disc in Nero's InCD program...you might be able to use it then.
you could also try downloading UDF Reader, it might solve your problem, or other similar problems...get it here:

That Mitsumi is a 4x burner - you can use 48x speed blanks and it can still only burn at 4x.
