How do I delete a page in Word 2000

I have just created a price list in Word 2000 and in the original document that I worked on, this list occupied a page and a half.
I actually wanted the list to be on just one page so I condensed the list and I got it to fit on one page.
Problem is, when I go to print the document, the printer prints out two pages even though the second page is blank.
I checked the document again in Word and sure enough the first page has the list that I wanted and the second page is blank.
I have tried to delete the blank page (in Word) but when I try to do this, it deletes the first page as well. Question is. how do I delete the second page and leave the first page intact so that when I hit "print" I just get the first page printed out and not a second blank piece of paper.
I know I can control this through the print setup, but surely there is a way to delete the page allthgether in word so as the document has only the one page.
There must be a way to do this but I haven't been able to find it yet. Any help would be appreciated.

The most common reason this happens is that there is a carriage return at the end of the last character in the file, which spills over onto the next page.

Try this:
1) Place your cursor to the right of the last character and press CTRL+SHIFT+END. Then hit the DELETE key to delete everything after that point.
2) Place your cursor to the right of the last character and press CTRL+DELETE to delete the last (hidden) character (the non-printing space). Clicking the "Reveal formatting" (¶) button on the toolbar will show you the hidden characters at the end of the file.
3) In the Print Preview window, click the "Shrink to Fit" button on the toolbar to force the page to fit on one page. This will forcibly remove any extra pages at the end of the document.

or....you could just copy and paste the first page into a new document and delete the first one.
