DVD Copying

What would be the best program for copying DVDs to CD-Rs. I wanted to make backup copies of some of my DVDs from my collection. I've been looking for a while, and the one I've tried didn't even work in my DVD player. So, what would be the best program for this scenario.

Thanks

edit:
oops, sorry this program is for dvd writers....
most dvd's are 2 to 4 gigabytes.....most cdr's are no more than about 700 mb. you're going to have trouble putting dvd to cdr...there is software to do it, but if you want true copies disc to disc you're going to have to buy a dvd writer....

Under "Guides" look for "VCD / SVCD".

One that works. But still has some quality issues is WinCopyDVD ($40).

It's simple and quick. It'll even take subtitles from foreign movie DVD and put them on the VCD. The trial version is only five minutes. I notice a bit of jerking and out of sync audio. But this thing is close.

My nephew rips with a Mac and Dazzle Hollywood DV Bridge. He gets commercial quality VCDs. It ain't cheap!

I just tried a sample of 'Gangs of New York' on the 5 minute trial. It gave good, commercial quality VCD. That's VCD quality. It's pretty good. So I guess it just depends.
