How do you transfer all the Outlook settings, files, etc, to a new computer?

Outhouse or Outhouse Express?
With Outhouse, there are 2 things you need - export account settings (this will give you a small importable file) and you need the .pst file which will have all your personal folders (mail and contacts, etc.). With Outhouse Express, I usually copy the address book (the .wab file) and go dig out all the .dbx files from your identity (copy everything in that specific folder), then import the address book and import the mail from a store directory - point that one to the folder where you copied the .dbx files to. If you use a CDR to copy the stuff over, make sure to remove the read only attribute from the files before you try to do anything. |

Depending on the version of Outlook Express, you can go to tools\accounts and then click on export and save your account settings to a folder that will be easy to find.
To move your messages, depending on what version, click tools\options\maintenance\store folder and browse to a folder that is easier to find than the deeply nested one Outlook gives. Create one in My Documents named email messages. On the new machine, click on tools\accounts\import and import the account. Then, either (depends on version) click file\import\messages and navigate to the folder with the messages. Addresses are easy. file\export\messages\blah blah blah older versions of Outlook store the folders in .mdx and .idx files. (think I have the associations right) |

OK, thanks to all,
I will have to go back to this machine and see what's up. I did the export thingy but I don't know if I correctly exported all the files. |
