My friend has just been signing on and off aim trying to send me a picture. He told me that every minute he gets an error saying that his computer will shutdown. I don't have a website so I don't know any other way to do this than to just wewrite message. He claims he has downloaded nothing before this error.

Perhaps related:
Homeland security has notified everyone about yet another huge absolutely critical code-red end-all flaw. And it does involve the RPC and a buffer overwrite exploit, which allows someone smart to send a properly malformed message to your computer and gain full control. I would look for this patch. Should not be hard to find. Again, may or may not be related, but a place to start. |

Thanks for replying guys, after he started getting the message and DCed on AIM to send me a screenshot. Then, about 5 hours later EYE got the message. I got it once signed back on. I went on AIM and said he gave me a virus but he said it was not one. Then I got kicked again and I was starting to get a bit angry. I did virus checker and found 4 back door trojans! But they wree not the problem. Then he sent me the windows patch for the exploit and its all gone. Boy am I relieved. Well thanks for responding everyone.

Yes it IS related the MSBlaster Worm. And for those of you that have downloaded the M$ patch, don't forget to run a removal tool to completely clean your system of the worm.
I usually rely on Symantec for removal tools. I used their removal tool on my friend'c pc. Here's the link: http://securityresponse.symantec.com...oval.tool.html P.S. In case someone hasn't already downloaded the patch, here's a link to it... http://www.microsoft.com/technet/tre...n/MS03-026.asp |
