Will this Work?

I'm putting in a new hard drive. I have XP Pro-full version, 98-full version and a Compaq "Restore Disk" with ME on it. The Compaq "Restore Disk" also has Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint on it. What I would like to accomplish is XP Pro with Word, Excel and Powerpoint. What I need to know is this: Can I initially use the Compaq "Restore Disk" to load up ME and Word, Excel and Powerpoint---and then "Upgrade" with the XP Pro? Remember that the XP Pro is the Full version.

If not, can anybody tell me how to get the Word, Excel and PowerPoint Off the "Restore Disk" or what Files I need to copy off my Compaq PC? I copied and burned the MS Office Folder which has Word, etc in it, but It didn't work.

Thanx!

You should be able to use the XP Pro full as an upgrade if you pop it in within ME. I know of no way to extract installables from a restore disk.

Thanks glc. I'll give it a whirl.

A side question I had also would be: Can ME be put on NTFS, or do I have to use FATS32?

Thanx!

WinME won't work with NTFS, you'll have to use FAT32.

The XP upgrade will offer to convert the drive for you.

Ok, I got the 2nd HD physically installed.

Ignore the post of mine "New Problem-Did I Reformat or what?" I've gotten that sorted out.

I managed to format the new 80g hd thru the XP on the 120g. I didn't name it so it named itself "new volume". My question is this: if I want the HDs to see each other---What do I name the OS partition on the new 80g since the 120g already has a C:\ drive?

Thanx, Guys!
