Question file transfer program

a couple of years ago i started making folders for each artist of songs that i had on my computer. i have since discovered that xp will let you arrange by artist based on id3 tag and i like this feature. i was wondering if there was a way to move files from all of the subdirectories into the main directory. i.e. all files are in their own folder by artist in D:\Music\. is there a way to move all of the files in each of those subdirs into D:\Music\ without manually cutting and pasting? thanks for the help. i have like 350 folders and i am kind of lazy.

find--> *.mp3 --> select all results --> cut/paste into new folder

thus eliminating need to go through all of your folders, well yea thats how id do it anyways.

Also, try just looking in the folder where all of your other folders are, if thats the way you have it arranged. Then, you wont get any other .mp3 files, like stuff from games and whatnot.

I'd sure suggest using copy and paste instead of cut and paste...although I use drag and drop myself.

If you cut and paste and something goes wrong during the transfer process, you can lose a lot of data. With copy and paste....or drag and drop...if something goes wrong during the transfer process, your data is still in the original folder so you can try again.

I usually do a right-click drag-and-drop, choosing "Copy here" when moving stuff I can't afford to lose. If the transfer is successful, I then go back and delete the data from the original location.

I learned my lesson the hard way.
