Run a program from a CD wo/Installing to HD?

Is it possible to burn a program to a CD such as Ad Aware and then run it on a computer without installing it to the hard drive? Thanks!

I've seen a few programs that will run from the CD but I believe Ad Aware has to be installed to use it.

I've tried Ad-aware and Spybot from CD and if I remember correctly, they will run OK, it's just when the data to be changed is moved to backup, those files try to go to the CD where the Backup file is located. won't work
