Need some opinions...
I've been backing up my important data (about 1Gigs worth) using the built-in Win2k backup feature, to my fileserver. Problem is, I don't want it in the backup (.bkf) format, for two reasons: 1. In the event of a crash, the data may not be backed up on the original machine, or even a Windows-based comp, for that matter. I'll need to be able to find and use specific files quickly (like work files) without having to deal with Window's archive format. 2. I'd also like some of these files to be available across my network. So if I'm on another computer, I can easily look at reference material without having to go to the other machine. So, did I miss something in the backup wizard, or can anybody reccomend some freeware that would do this? Dogwelder |

I think PolderBackup may work.
It`s freeware and I`ve played with it a little and have been able to create redundant, backed up directories across my network. The backed up directories can then be accessed via Windows Explorer just like any other directory at any time. It`s not quite as full featured as a backup prog you`d buy and takes a little experimenting but is pretty simple to use. For the price (freeware) it may be what you`re looking for. |
