File Transfer
I have 15.2gigs of files I need to move from one computer to another. Rather than burn all that data to CD and tediously transfer it to the new system I was wondering how I would go about networking the 2 computers to transfer the files. I have a wireless network setup at my house and both computers are on it but I don't know how to setup file sharing, otherwise would I be better off plugging the computers into each other via each others ethernet cards? Thanks in advance.

Probably be best if you tell us what OS's your two systems are running and do you use internal network cards or USB for networking? Furnish some more infor and someone here will surely have an answer.

Both computers are running win XP. One is hardwired via its ethernet jack to a linksys router which is connected to a linksys cable modem and the other computer has a linksys wireless network card (its a laptop and the card is one of those PCIMIA cards which can be easily pluged in and taken out) which allows it to connect to the router and then to the internet. The laptop also has an internal ethernet card which I currently have disabled but can easily activate if need be. I'm trying to get all the files off the laptop and transfered to the desktop.

The fastest way is to pull out the hard drive from the old comp, disconnect the CD in the new comp and connect the old HD. Boot up and then copy the files.

Mairving, I appreciate your suggestion but one computer is a laptop and one is a desktop so correct me if I'm wrong but I didn't think that the two were compatable. Isn't there a way I can send them through the network or directly hook up both machines to each other?
