windows 2000 dual booting menu
I installed windows 98, then put in a windows 2000 cd to do a clean install, in the result of this after windows 2000 finished install, I have a dual boot menu at startup. selection one is to select windows 2000 and selection 2 is to boot to previous operating system which is win98. Is there any way to get rid of the selection for the previous operating system. I don't know windows 98.
pc specs, Toshiba infinia desktop pent 133, 98 megs of ram 20 gig harddrive. thanks |

Right click on "My Computer" and select "Properties". Select the "Advanced" tab and click "Startup and Recovery". Click the "Edit" button and delete the relevant line of code.

opposite Deletion
Ok, I did the same thing and tried the "fix" to delete 2000 but can't seem to locate startup and recovery? Any Clues as to how to fix the problem - barring that - how do I get my data off of 98 to 2000, such as drivers and games - reinstalling all my drivers is a problem.

open boot.ini in c:\ and delete the line that has the other operating system on it.
[boot loader] timeout=10 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect that should be your main os. If there is anything else their delete it. |
