Nero Write errors
I recently used over burn to make some high capacity CD'.s When I'd done I flipped back all the things I'd changed and contiued to use normal cd's from a new box. The first 5 of these worked fine but the last 5 and subsequent 3 from another new box have all returned 'Write Error' at differing stages in the burn process.
I have tried burning different files, turning over-burn off, auto insert off, track-a- once to disc-at-once and vice versa, turning the burn speed down, turning multisession off and still everytime I go to burn a normal 700mb cd it fails on a write error. After the problem started i went back to my high capacity box and fished out the remaining cd. I burnt some files to that no problem but as before when I went back to the 700mb ones I get write errors every time. I thought it might be a dodgey batch but the problem has stemmed over two boxes of 700mb cd's now. Can anyone help? Duff |

Check with the manufacturer's website for your burner. Sometimes they have testing programs that can help you determine if the drive is bad or not.

go back to the shop and quote the sale of goods act at them
all goods sold in the uk must be fit for the purpose that thay are sold for in your case the blank cdr were sold to you to burn data on and you cant becaus the disks are defectiv so demand a refund or tel them you will contact the trading standerds departmen at your councle office dont ever let them brush you off with the old no refund policey as fulty goods dont count this is an extact from the sale of goods act that you can print out and show them Implied term about quality. 1.—(1) In section 14 of the [1979 c. 54.] Sale of Goods Act 1979 (implied terms about quality or fitness) for subsection (2) there is substituted— "(2) Where the seller sells goods in the course of a business, there is an implied term that the goods supplied under the contract are of satisfactory quality. (2A) For the purposes of this Act, goods are of satisfactory quality if they meet the standard that a reasonable person would regard as satisfactory, taking account of any description of the goods, the price (if relevant) and all the other relevant circumstances. (2B) For the purposes of this Act, the quality of goods includes their state and condition and the following (among others) are in appropriate cases aspects of the quality of goods— (a) fitness for all the purposes for which goods of the kind in question are commonly supplied, (b) appearance and finish, (c) freedom from minor defects, (d) safety, and (e) durability. |
