Internet Explorer bookmarks
I'm going to do a format and fresh install of WinXP on a friends computer to get rid of 2 years worth of half uninstalled junk and unused applications.
I need to save the bookmarks, but so far have not located their file. Where do I find that thing? On my own system I tried copying the whole IE folder and came up with none of my old bookmarks =P |

Generally, the icons are stored in your Temp Internet file folder. WHen you clean out the temp file, poof, there they go.

The easiest way to save the bookmarks is to export them from IE. Go to File>Import and Export and then click Next when the first page pops up. In the next page, select "Export Favorites" and click next. Select which of your favourites foldres you want to save and click Next. When asked where you want to save your bookmarks, select "Export to a File or Address and then give it the location of the file, whic you can name anything that you like. Click Next and IE will give you a page full of explanations. When you click Finish, IE will save your favorites to the file you selected.
Now simply backup the file to floppy or CD and re-install Windows. After you re-install, run IE and select File>Import and Export and click Next. Then select Import Favorites from the list and point to the favorites you exported before. IE will now import all your old favorites. |
