Question Creating video CD with Nero

I am trying to create a video CD using Nero. I have 9 video clips and I want them to play one right after another.

I created an AUTORUN.INF for Windows Media player. It works fine, plays the first video clip when the CD is put in. But it only plays the first clip and not the others in the Mpegav file. How do I get all the clips to play one right after the other?

Thanks.

With the auto run are you only specifying to open the first file? If so that’s your problem but as far as I know there isn’t any way to load all files with an auto run cd.

I use a program called vcd buy Roxio… I just make the auto run and when it starts it loads all the files on the cd and they will run one after the other…

Hope I was of some help..

Maybe you could make a play list, put that on the cd and make the auto run file open it instead of the video files.

I don't have MPEG PALs and NTSC. But I do merge various source mpeg files with TMPGEnc. Then I burn the discs with VCDEasy. They play fine on both my computer and DVD player on my TV.

Sorry it took me a while to get back. My son's PC gave us some trouble.

It sounds like merging the files before burning might be the way to go. I will give that a try next.

As you can tell, I'm very new to this. Nero came with the burner. Would Roxio VCD or something else be better for newbie like me. I got the burner originally to backup data but making video and music CD's is a lot more fun.

Thanks for your help.

Try www.vcdhelp.com for more information.

The tools look overwhelming. There's a bit of a learning curve with the stuff. But after a few tries it's pretty easy. The freeware software works pretty good. Sometimes it's a bit time consuming. But they do work very well.

But for me the trick to get the discs to play on a DVD player is to use VCDEasy (V.1.15). That's the free version.

This may sound like a dumb question, but are VCD and SVCD file formats that you burn onto a standard CDR? Or do you have to purchase a different type of media to burn a VCD or SVCD?

Yes, VCD and SVCD can be burned to a regular CD-R.

Familyman, reply back after you've used VCDEasy. I'm interested in burning a few in the near future as well, and would like to hear how it worked for you. Thx.

What kind of files were they? mpeg, avi, etc...

In order for it to be a vcd I believe it has to convert them to mpeg and conversion is a long task… Especially from an AVI.
