belive me, there is nothing that will clean the drive, short of a blast furnace and a total melt down,
everything can be recovered, by the right people with the right tools, if there is something the FBI wants to see, they can and will find it on the harddrive no matter what you do to cover it up. |

cnet no longer has that file doctorgonzo. i will search for it though. so even if you write over your files multiple times, the info can still be recovered? then whats the point in the first place???

get the manufacturer's diagnostic utilities. most have a zero fill utility that puts zeros for every user accessable byte on the machine.

Try using System Mechanic from www.iolo.com. It has a feature called the Incinerator, which overwrites all erased data with random series of numbers for the number of times you specify.

This technology was available in the 90s and to a small business. Just imagine what kind of black technology Uncle Sam keeps in the cabinet. No software can hide your tracks. So if you have something that the CIA, FBI, ABC, MTV, etc. are looking for, I'd suggest condemning the drive to hell. Burn the drive and dump the burnt parts in the ocean. But if you're hiding it from your parents, boss, significant other, I guess a software cleanup tool will keep you safe
