Angry Ineed to sort this mess before old man gets home

my partner had been trying to upgrade my step dads Toshiba Portege 3490CT laptop from Win 98 to XP, but it would only let him get so far. So when he went to work i thought id have a go.... well, ive formatted it by accident without saving any stuff at all, now i cant install anything on it.
Please help, he's due home in 3 hours 15 mins!!!. Ive tried booting from floppy and also from the disk drive but nothing. Wot am i supposed to be doing, cos i dont know ive never done this before!!
Ill be really grateful for any help

well to at least just get an os back on (preferrably xp) go

here and download the xp bootdisks. you will need six floppies to create the boot disks. from there it will walk you through it. you can install to the hardrive and it will go straight through the installation. hope this helps.
