Wink Unknown programs in C:/ Please Help !!

I am using Windows 98. Somehow I downloaded something from either the net or windows updates. On a specific date and time (8/28/03 at 11:06am), I now have the following folders under C:/ The folders are:

CHANGJIE
JAIME
KOIME
SCIME
TCIME

What are these folders ???

Could these files have been added to my hard drive when I selected a language update from the MS Windows Update site ???

Do I need these folders / programs ???

Can I jut delete them from the C:/ pane ???

Are they a virus ???

Please help

Those do look like they are related to other languages. Do you need the language support in Windows?

If you don't need them, have you tried uninstalling them from the Control Panel? Try looking under "Regional Options"

Also, what are in these folders?

RE doctorgonzo comment about unknown files

I looked under regional settings and there are a lot of countries listed beside the USA !!!

That's just it. These files are "jibberish". I'll go into a folder and open a file - but it means nothing to me !!!

What kind of files are they? Are they programs, text files, or what?

You should be able to remove the other countries that you don't need. That may take care of it.

OK. Thanks for your help. The files are all "lanugage support files" that I downloaded when I performed a Windows Update. I really don't need them. So, I'll delete them in the Control Panel.
