A different version number signifies a bug fix, added feature, or major overhaul.
What exactly does a "build" refer to? The reason I'm asking is because I'm starting to write programs in C, and I would like to try to document versions/builds.

build
(n.) A version of a software program. The term is usually used in reference to a program that is still in development. (v.) To program, or write lines of code. I think "build" is more of an internal number. Version is what the public sees. |

I'm still a little confused about a "build", so is it a count of the number of lines in the code?

Guessing it can be anything you want/need to refresh "your" mind as to what's in it/not in it.
Windows XP Pro with SP1a is also build 5.1.2600 (SP1a) |
