Reinstall, uninstall problem
Got a 2yr old Gateway running a pentium 1.4 chip with windows Millenium and 256 SDram.
Microsoft Works Suite is not answering up. It came with the machine, installed at the factory. It was working properly, and none of the other installed software is giving any grief. When using the software to either re-install or uninstall we get a msg. which says "device not working". Used another set of the same software and got the same message. The CD RW is accepting other Cd's for installing other progams so I ruled out that device. Add remove programs is no help. I know I can go and root it out of the registry and also use the program "Registry first aid" to complete the removal but I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and what might have been the cause and cure.? I appreciate any comeback on this, thanks. |

Try doing a system restore back to a date when it was working properly.

In addition to the original message, after trying system restore which does not work, I get the following messages.
Error Starting Program, the MSIEXEC.EXE file is linked to missing export MSI.DLL"222 I tried to install a good copy of Office 2000 premium and got: Microsoft Office 2000 Premium Setup Cannot launch C:\Windows\system\msiec.exec. A device atached to the system is not functioning. |
