SpeedUpMyPC and Wn Tasks 4 Professional

Has anyone tried SpeedUpMyPC and/or Win Tasks 4 Pro by LIUtilities? If so, how well do they work? I am too much a novice to judge for myself.

welcome to pcmech.

I can't say I know much about them, but just by there name I would say save your money, as the re is no software that will speed up your computer, it just creats more files to preload some sites you go to and makes it look like its faster. it realy just wastes system resources and hard disk space.

I gotta agree with bailey, utilities that claim they can speed up your computer are worthless and a waste of money. Just keep the number of background programs to a minimum and keep your system well maintained and it'll run like is should.

Thanks. SpeedUpMyPC periodically carries out a process that seems to free up memory. I use a speech recognition program (Dragon NaturallySpeaking) that benefits from extra avaiable memory. Is it possible that SpeedUpMyPC makes more usable memory available to such a program? My computer uses RDRAM, very expensive; otherwise I would have added more RAM.

If all you want to do is periodically free up some physical ram, this is a free program that does a pretty good job:
