why always a bmp?

about 90% of the time I right-click on a picture to save it, it saves as a bmp(with no other options) when it is actually a jpg or gif. Is there some option to default save things as jpg?

I am getting tired of converting every bmp to jpg so it doesnt take up a meg per pic lol.

thanks

Instead of using set as background, try using "save as" and change the file type to jpeg.

Sometimes refreshing the image helps to get it to save in the proper format. I don't know why though.

I vaguly remember that this is a known "issue".... Try doing a search on "bmp" and see if there is a prior post on this... Sorry, but can't remember for sure off hand, just a thought in the back of my head...

Two Rails is right, this is a known issue with IE that "sometimes" can be fixed by deleting your IE temp files, increasing the size of your temp files and one other thing but I can't recall what it is. There are times when nothing will fix it and MS says to save the file as a bmp then convert the file, but when all else fails the only other fix is to do a fresh install of the OS or use another browser.

You got lucky! I had one a while back that nothing worked except a fresh install not even a repair of IE or the OS would do.
