I use ghost to make backups. If you have it, backing up is as easy as ABC.

Goto start - accessories - sytem tools - backup. Backup the system state and programs and then just format and reinstall windows and load up that back up.

If you use Ghost to make a duplicate of your HDD , when you format and reload, you will just put it back identically to what it is now. If you are formatting to start over, you don't want to use Ghost. It will make a copy of the entire HDD, but with your current flaws. Better use a CD burner to back up your data. You will need to reload Windows and the programs after format, then restore your data.

There is no backup option. I tried both of those ways.

You will find the Win Back-up utility on the XP home CD. It is not installed by default on Home.

Does ghost works like the recovery cds when buying a premade computer? Do they format and reinstall everythign for you when you insert the cd?
