wilbasket23,

If you don't want to use either Opera or Mozilla browsers, (they have popup blockers) you can go here and get pop up stopper. Its free!

Ditto on Goggle bar- it even keeps a running count of how many popups is has stopped. BTW- the autofill feature is the best I've seen.

Install Norton Personal Firewall, it not only stops the pop ups' but protect your PC as well, from 'others' outside trying to access your PC.

You can reset the pop-up blocker's count by holding down ALT + Shift and clicking on the pop-up blocker button.

I thought the Google bar had some kind of spyware or some cookie tracker stuff that one wouldn't really want?
No?

If it does- I assume that adaware or spybot will detect and eliminate it.

Last I heard, the only issue with the Google toolbar was that it updates on its own--without your knowledge or permission. Other than that it's clean.

Google collects a good deal of information about your query. It records not only what you searched for (when you activate the advanced Toolbar features), but several other pieces of information as well, including the time of day, the type of browser you're running, the language your browser uses, and your IP address. Many times, after giving you a list of Web sites that match your search, Google will also record which sites you actually visited. "Google may choose to exhibit its search results in the form of a 'URL redirecter,'" reads Google's main privacy policy. "When Google uses a URL redirecter, if you click on a URL from a search result, information about the click is sent to Google."

only when you activate advanced Toolbar features but i believe it tells you this whe you install it... I have the basic.

Here's one not recommended. SurfGhost (not to be confused with GhostSurf). Good luck uninstalling it if you don't like it. No support either.
