Counter Strike
I hope this is right forum to post this question.
Im having quite weird lag when I play CS. It's like 80% chance of getting lag when I play CS. It lags for 4 seconds and it stops for minute and it starts to lag again. My ping is really low, so I don't think that's the problem. I reinstalled CS like 10 times and changed the video modes, but still no luck. My computer is Dell Dimesion 2300 with 1.8 CPU and 256RAM, and Intergrated 3D card. Can anyone help me to fix this problem?? |

Was CS running smoothly before? If yes, try cleaning the system. Run updated versions of antivrus, spybot, adaware. delete temp files. Disable unnecessary processes in msconfig. You may want to clean your registry but use caution. what OS are you using anyway?

I used to be able to play CS on a P3 800Mhz with a Geforce2MX. But now, with all its patches and updates, you really need a better computer than what you have now.
At least 512MB RAM and a non-integrated video card. I'm not sure a Geforce4MX will even do it now, but I would recommend at least a Geforce3 Ti. To put it in perspective though, CS is actually one of the least graphic intensive when it comes to moderm 1st person shooter games. So if you are a gamer, you need to put a little more money into the video and get something even better than the Geforce3 Ti. |

At the standard $835 price, that machine is pretty decent. That should be pretty capable of running Counter-Strike. Most of the time the lag is from too much data trying to cross the medium at the same time. If you play on DSL or Cable, or on a T3 at work or something, then your lag will severely decrease.

Its the integrated video. The minimum requirements are not high for CS. Try using the Geforce 2 on your current computer.
