Backing up email files

hi,

I am running windows xp home. I would like to know how to make a backup of my email files. I use Netscape Communicator 4.79 for one email address and Outlook Express 6 for my other email address. Thanks.

For outlook express you need to go to Tools>>Options on the menu bar.

Then go to the Maintenance tab and click the store folder button. Copy the path from the new window that pops up.

This is the path to your store folder.

If you copy all the files from this folder then you have backed up your emails.

To restore from the store directory go to Files>>Import>>Messages on the menu bar. Then select OE6 as the program. Then chose import from a OE6 store directory. You will then be prompted to to chose folders to import.

Dunno about Netscape tho.

If anything ain't clear give me a shout.

That works great from OE6 to OE6. How about backing up emails from OE 5.x and importing them to OE6? Doesn't work.
Anyone have a suggestion for export/import of OE's mail between versions?

What I have done in the past (may not work these days, but it is worth a shot) is to simply drag all of the messages from OE to a disk or a folder. Then, drag them back into OE. This isn't an ideal solution, but it works.

Sure.....NOT.
I can export the address book as Exchange, or CDV.
I can export the messages in any number of formats, however, OE6 will NOT import OE5.x messages.
There's got to be a better way, as the MS import/export tools really suck.
