Any NAV should work with WIN98. Avoid System works- crash monitor will just crash your system and the other system monitoring stuff, while colorful, don't have much use. Win doctor might be helpful in eleminiating orphaned shortcuts and the speed disk (defragmenting) is faster than the defragmenting that comes with Win98- but doesn't seem to be faster than WinXP.

I only use NAV and ghost from my systemworks. NAV works as it should. I haven't tried ghost yet.

With Windows 98 and Norton SystemWorks> Do a custom install and only install NOrton AV and Norton Utilities. And the only thing that you ever want to use in the Norton Utilities is Speed Disk. This is a much faster and better Defragging program than the one in Windows. Never ever use Norton Disk Doctor or Norton WinDoctor that is included in the Utilities. Although they may work, both programs have a reputation for causing major system crashes.

I'm one of those weirdo's who loves NSW. I've been using it since there was a real person named "Norton," and the OS was DOS.

Also, if you get an OEM copy of the product, it (typically) is cheaper than buying NAV only. NSW comes with a *full* version of NAV.

The "Pro" version also include Ghost but the standard version does not.

I install about 1/2 of the stuff that comes with it, like the Utilities part and NAV as othes have mentioned above. Do stay away from stuff like "Go Back" (which is no longer supported, I believe)

Even if you install more than you actually need, it's real easy to turn off the stuff you don't want on system startup. I have only NAV load on bootup.

I've used all version up thru 2003 Pro and all have worked with *no* problems with Win 98.2.

For more details, simply go to Symantec's site and look under products.

HTH

I just installed NAV 2003. What does the "wipe info" do?

Also, what is norton internet secutiry?

Just incase your wondering why I'm asking all of these nortan questions.
Its because I have allot of norton software. This guy I know has a small book store that also sells computer software. The store was closeing and he offered me anything I wanted from his store for helping him pack. So I took one each of all the norton stuff. And I don't want to install it all onto my computer becuase I dout I need all of it.

Wipe Info totally erases data from your hard drive.

For more info on NIS, go here:

Thumbs up

I've been gettingSYSWORKS each year. Before XP the defragger worked fine. Norton said an upgrade to sysworks 2002 was necessary. Defrag took forever. Same with 2003.

I got O&O and it defrags great.

But I will still get sysworks2004 and beyond, mostly for NAV, because at various times during the year, with discounts and rebates, you can get it for about $4 or free. Read rebate requirements before you buy.

This beats paying $17 for another year of virus updates for NAV or Sysworks.

Don't install the new SYSWorks till the virus updates expire.
