Flashplayer not working

I can not get my macromedia flash player to play. Any time I go to a website that uses flash, it tell me I dont have, and there is an "X" in the corner.
I do have it, but it is not working. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. It still wont work. I am at my wits end. Can anyone help me?????????? I have been trying to resolve this problem for weeks?

What operating system are you using?

Have you scanned for viruses, spyware and trojans?

Clean out the Temporary Internet Folder.

What are your internet security settings ?
It's true you may need to reinstall the app but if the problem is your browser disabling it that won't help.
Check out internet options in tools and see what is or isn't disabled.
Also, if you have AV and firewall, they may be blocking as well.
We really need your specs and what software you're running.
We know you have XP and an AV program but not anything else.
