when i open e mails using aol sometimes randome pop-ups apear asking me to by pop-up blocking software. they are not from a webpage and i have all of my pop-up settings set properly. i dont want to report them as spam because they are from my friends. any ideas on how i can stop these strange pop-ups?

Go to security.kolla.de and download Spybot Search & Destroy. Install it, update it, and run it.

If the messages say "Messenger Service" on the title bar, then you need to go to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services, scroll down to "Messenger Service" and double click on it.
Then change the "Startup type" to Disabled in the drop-down list and then click on the Stop button to stop the service without having to reboot. Click OK to save the changes. This Messenger service has nothing whatsoever to do with MSN Messenger or Windows Messenger so if you use either of those, it will not be affected. |
