Registry Cleaner ( Does Not Exist )

I downloaded a registry cleaner, jv16 pt, and don't know how much to trust it. The majority of the entries found , gave the reason as "does not exist". The keys it refers to are shared DLL's. Other entries are CLSID and reason is" invalid ApplD entry (OLE/DDE).
Is there anyway for me to verify which entries I can safely remove? How can I learn, by internet or other means to work with registry keys..ect? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Sam

I stopped using jv16 - it was causing problems. I stick with good old Micro$oft RegClean - its very mild but safe.

Thanks glc. After looking at the 400+ entries again, I think I'm going to steer clear of this one also.
Thanks!

I use RegScrubXP, from Lexun. Not even sure if you can get it any more, but dig around on the net and get a copy. It's very safe and effective in XP.

I'm not too bright, so I use Easy Cleaner. Just make sure that HELP is in the SKIP Box. If you don't then the Help and Support will become disabled. But there is patch to get it back if you forget.

Thanks ! Seems I have a few cleaners to choose from. Will let you know if I fall in and can't get out. It's great knowing help is only a few clicks away.

The link I posted is for another cleaner. This is the right one.
