Cd ripping software

Hello everyone,
I want to rip all of my cd's into my computer and was wondering what is the best program to use for this. I have a small program but it requires that that I write in the name of each song. Is there a program available that does this for you?
Thanks to all who answer

I use Exact Audio Copy. With an Internet connection, it will query the CD database and grab CD names and track titles if it can.

Yes I just found this a few minutes ago and it's great. Thanks to both of you for the help.

It's not free but for the variety of features and the ease of use, I like Musicmatch. Been using it since the 5.0 version and currently have the retail 7.5 version.

just put the cd in the tray. open it with windows explorer, select all and copy the tracks to a folder...no software required unless you want to convert to mp3 format.

I have about 350 + cd's I want to rip into my computer. I figure mp3 is the best way to go or would wav be better?

350 CDs, if of average length (40-50 minutes), will take up close to 150 GB if stored as WAV files. That's not very efficient. I encode my CDs as variable-bitrate MP3s.

My intention was to store as mp3, but what is variable-bitrate mp3?

For MP3s, the higher the bitrate, the better the sound quality. constant-bitrate (CBR) MP3s are encoded at one bitrate, like 128 or 196 kbps. WIth VBR, the bitrate used depends on the audio information: when more information is needed to reproduce the sound more accurately, a higher bitrate is used, otherwise, a lower bitrate is used. Thus, the better-quality but space-consuming higher bitrate is used only when necessary.

Interesting read, thank you. Where can I get the software (exact audio copy) that you use?

I use EAC just to rip CDs to WAVs. I then encode the WAVs to MP3s using LAME. I do it this way because I rip a bunch of CDs to WAVs (a pretty easy process), and then convert the WAVs to variable-bitrate MP3s all at once (which is processor-intensive and time consuming).
