Cd ripping software
Hello everyone,
I want to rip all of my cd's into my computer and was wondering what is the best program to use for this. I have a small program but it requires that that I write in the name of each song. Is there a program available that does this for you? Thanks to all who answer

I use Exact Audio Copy. With an Internet connection, it will query the CD database and grab CD names and track titles if it can.

It's on the 'net. Just do a google search. Should be at download.com too.

It's not free but for the variety of features and the ease of use, I like Musicmatch. Been using it since the 5.0 version and currently have the retail 7.5 version.

just put the cd in the tray. open it with windows explorer, select all and copy the tracks to a folder...no software required unless you want to convert to mp3 format.

350 CDs, if of average length (40-50 minutes), will take up close to 150 GB if stored as WAV files. That's not very efficient. I encode my CDs as variable-bitrate MP3s.

For MP3s, the higher the bitrate, the better the sound quality. constant-bitrate (CBR) MP3s are encoded at one bitrate, like 128 or 196 kbps. WIth VBR, the bitrate used depends on the audio information: when more information is needed to reproduce the sound more accurately, a higher bitrate is used, otherwise, a lower bitrate is used. Thus, the better-quality but space-consuming higher bitrate is used only when necessary.
