I forgot how to do this exactly, but there is an option somewhere that will correct your problem. If you have to just go back up to that word and give it the 3 or 4 more spaces that it needs to get the correct line break you want.
If I recall correctly there is an option that will turn on or off the word wrap and that will solve the problem. If not I know for a fact there is something in the options to solve this. I went through the same thing in high school and college trying to fix it! Wish I could be more specific! Good luck!

I'm not the greatest with word either, but try hitting enter when you get to the margin and it should line you up. If you go to far just backspace until your on the upper line and then hit enter. Someone might have an easier way. I'll check back so I might learn an easier way also. Hope this helps.

You can do that too, but I know there is an option that will turn something on or off... Argh... Wish I could think of it. Maybe if I look at my Word I can find it!

I don't know about Word 2000 or Word XP, but in Word 97, go to Tools, Bullets and Numbering, and use numbering. This tool may already be on one of your toolbars.

numbering will do it, it should be a button on your button bar with a veticaly aligned 1,2 ,3 with sime small grey lines next to the numbers to reperesent text. If you do not have a button use the menu item format and bullets and numbering.
These example from Word XP

I think you actually want to format the paragraph and set the text to 'hang' at the appropriate point (often 1/4" multiples if you are in UK / NZ or other country that uses English Imperial measures).
