omg those pop ups

Everytime when i resume the pc from sleeping mode, there must be at least 5 pop up banners. I even had Zone Alarm on to stop it but it didnt. Is there anyway to stop these pop ups?

What kind of popups? Also, have you tried running adware ( www.lavasoftusa.com ) or spybot?

He might not know how to do that, you should explain

Depending on your OS, it could be different. On WinXP:

Start > Run > Services.MSC > Scroll to "Messenger" > Right Click "Properties" > Press The "Stop" Button > Change "StartupType" to "Disabled"

Should be fine now

It's more likely to be spyware from my experience. Get Adaware 6 and install run on all drives. Delete everythiing it finds.

After that you can consider browser choices like Mozilla . I have the 1.4 version. It's free by the way. After installing it will explain how to block popups. It's worth a try.

The browser won't be able to stop these types of pop-ups, because this is happening when he computer is on stand-by. Most likely it is due to the messenger service being on an always-on connection. Mozilla, google, and variations only stop popups within the browser session itself.

You should also install and run SpyBot Search and Destroy. It catches everything and more than what Adware catches. You can find it here:

Run both, they both 'pick up' after each other Pop up stopper free also stops all pop up banners if those are the pop ups you are having...
