I need some DOS help

i got a problem, my grandma uses this very old word processing program that my uncle wrote way back in the '80's. she loves this program because it is simple and she knows how to use it. the program runs off of DOS but there is a shortvut to run it in windows so that she doesnt have to type in the command to run it. she just got a new computer (not brand new). the new computer is running windows 98 just like the one with ABC typing. i cannot install the typing program on the new one because it is on 5 1/4 disks. i know that the program should be able to be copied strait to a disk and then put on the other computer without installing since the program is so old. i do not know how to copy the files for the program from the one computer to a disk. i dont even know where they are. please help.

The shortcut she uses in windows will point to the location of the executable file. Once you find them you move to that directory and copy *.* a: /v to put them on the a:.
You would create the directory on the 98 and in dos window move to that directory and copy a:*.* /v.

it just says that it is a "MS-DOS program" and then it says the name of the shortcut in DOS which is something like pshort~3 or something

Search for any file on the HDD starting with pshort (pshort*.*).

Hopefully you will be able to find the exe and then copy it and any other files over to the new PC.

HTH,

David.
