IRQ channels
I have a question about IRQ's. There are 16 of them and most are already used. Every component needs one of it's own but if thats true my computer would be using way more than 16. This make no sense to me now, could any one clear this up for me please?

well one thing with ACPI is the abilitiy to share IRQs which is much of what Windows XP does, some new pcs have more the 16 IRQs now but their ability to share the IRQs makes it possiible

The theoretical limit is 256 IRQ's, of which the first 16 are "real", and the rest are virtual, managed by the operating system.
