screwy drivers

hi, i posted this in the windows xp section, but i think maybe it would be better off here because its basically a drivers problem. i've been having a problem with my drivers, namely my video drivers. ok so i've been having huge delays booting up due to my drivers so i got the latest nvidia drivers, removed the old ones, then installed the new ones. that took care of my boot up delay, but then i could only play games in software mode, rather than opengl and like under properties/settings/advanced i had no tab for my nvidia software stuff. so i installed the drivers again, without removing the old ones, i got the boot up delay back, but my drivers work now. what's going on with this? i have a geforce2 gts and windows xp if that helps at all. thanks.

Have your tried wipeing your hd clean then re installing everything?
If your drivers are the problem download the newest ones from the manufaterors website{s}
Re-format your h/d and you shouldn't have any more problems if you install new drivers(fresh from manufacteror)
Is this comp store bought or created by you

You made the computer. Hmm i dont think your drivers are conflicting with one an other but possably drivers conflicting with hardware that they arn't ment for? possable(oubt it)
just re-format and you should be set
If situation continues i think your cpu/ or mobo needs some fixing

Geez EvErY_DaY, don't tell him to reformat and reinstall yet...there may be a way out of this without having to wipe the hard drive.

IKu: Have you tried that video card in another computer to see if the problem is the video card itself? If you can, try another video card in your computer. This will help to isolate the problem.

hmm... that's a good idea. maybe i'll borrow my roommate's geforce4 this weekend... no time now though, off to my cs exam.

well just out of curiosity, if all the problems go away, it's the card itself. but if not, is it the drivers? or my computer somehow? i hope its something in my computer i can fix cuz nvidia released lots of drivers since the geforce2 gts was released and if it's driver related... there's not much i can do... and it probably won't get fixed. thanks for the suggestions. anything else i can try if it doesn't change?

wait, new question:
my roommate suggested I try the original packaged drivers, which I did, and though there's still a delay, it is significantly reduced (maybe 7-8 seconds vs 20-25). so now I'm not sure anymore. is it the drivers or the card? my roommates card worked flawlessly, no delays or anything with the newest drivers. my card delays a long time with the newest drivesr and works with a smaller delay with the original drivers. i'm just as confused as when i started =( i know this delay thing really is no big deal.. but i won't stop until i've eliminated every flaw from my computer!
