I have used it for years. It works by overwriting a file multiple times to get rid of the data. I use it by right-clicking on files I want to erase and then clicking "Erase." I also do a scheduled overwrite of free space on the harddrive every once in a while.

What doesn't seem to be working?

The locations of those files depends on what version of Windows you are using and what browser you are using.

For example, on Windows 2K and XP, you will find your IE cookies located at "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Cookies". Just select all and erase them. Also, go to "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files" and do the same thing.

If you have Internet Explorer open go to Tools> Internet Options> click delete cookie>ok> click delete files> check the box offline contents> ok> then click the delete history button> ok. You also can change your history to how many days you want to keep.

True, that will delete cookies and the history, but he is trying to use a third-party software tool that overwrites the files instead of simply deleting them. In order to use that tool, you have to find the files yourself.

There seems to be a bit more reading up on than compared to window washer , which i had first but deleted and went with eraser because i heard it was better .

The Eraser program should have put the "erase" option in your right clik menu. You can also open the "Eraser" file in your Program Files and drag and drop items into it to erase them.

When you installed Eraser, it should have also added an option when you right-click the Recycle Bin that says "Erase Recycle Bin." It is probably easiest to delete the file normally so they go into the Recycle Bin, and then Erase the Recycle Bin to erase all the files at once.
