Question MS Word Spell Check

Just a quick question. Is there a way I can disable to spell check on Word 97? I mean the little red lines that appear under misspelled words. I type papers for French class a lot, so Word thinks everything is wrong. It's tough on the eyes to be able to proof read with all that red. TIA

Not real sure on 97,but on mine(2002), you can disable the lines by clicking the tools, then options tab, click spelling and grammer, then check "hide grammaticle errors.
If this is not on 97, im sure there is a way to do it.Ya may just need to look around for the setting. Also check the help section too.
hope this helps

Edave is correct, on Office 97, go to tools - options and then the speilling and grammer tab in the pop up window. There is an unchecked box for both spelling and grammer error hiding in this documnet.

As an alternative, have you thought about adding the French words to the dictionary? This way you get the benefit of the spell checker without the red lines. Right click on a underlined word and select "Add' to do this.
