is it possible to collate docs with PDF

i need to print multiple copies of pdf documents.

at the moment for example, when printing 4 copies of a document, i get 4 copies of page 1 then 4 copies of page 2, ect...

this is a right pain as i have to collate the documents by hand into the right page order.

is it possible to get each copy to print out in page order.
(my printer has no collate function)

ive looked on adobe's website and they list collating as a feature that will be added if enough requests are received.

does anyone know of a work-around that will let me do what i want?

thanks in advance

A workaround - kludgy as it may be - print one copy, print again, repeat as necessary. You can send another print job as soon as the document spools and returns control of the computer to you.

bestax… is your printer able to print collate. I have an old hp 1000 and it has the ability to collate with adobe. Hit ctrl+p or go to file>print. This will open the print pop up box. On my, on the right hand side there is a little box to check for collate. If you hit the print icon in a page it is just going to print that way.

cheers for the replies

ive found out that there is an optional harddrive for the printer(hp laserjet 4550) that when installed will allow the printer to collate

my boss thinks this is acceptable so thats the route im going (he's paying after all)

once again cheers

I'm surprised that a big printer such as a 4550 won't permit collating without optional equipment!

dav: no need to apologize, please! I wasn't trying to get on your case, just point out something that you may have missed. It happens to all of us!
