runtime error 424
Hi everyone,
Last night i was downloading some files, listening to music from the hard-drive and playing a game. Nothing to intense, just a connect 4 type game, when i got a message saying the game would have to close. I clicked okay but then i got what i would presume is a Windows XP version of BSOD, saying that the computer needed to shut down to stop damage to components, i didn't read it properly (it is the first time i have seen it) the computer was making such a lot of noise, i turned it off immediately. I re-booted after a while, but after boot-up i get a box saying 'Run time error: '424'. Object Required. Again today i get the same message on boot-up. I don't know if this is the right forum as i don't know where this message is coming from. I have not loaded any new software for months nor changed any of the hardware. Have looked on the internet but this error seems to mention other programs that i do not have. Appreciate any help. Electrom |

Yes, it boots right through, then i get the box with the run time error, i click OK, and the computer has been going for about 4 hours now with no problems. Used the Internet, played the game (to see if that was a problem), played music, done some printing. No problem, just get the runtime error on first boot.

Without going into extensive details (most of which I'm not real clear on anyway but I do grasp the general concept), spyware may be causing the error.
To find out, download, install, immediately update and then run Spybot and/or AdAware. I recommend you use them both since each tends to find things the other misses. Let them clean up any spyware found. Then get CWShredder and run it (link to the download is near the bottom of the page). |

I do have a lot of Spyware, but never had a problem before.
I was using iMesh, which comes with Spyware that you have to keep, but i have noticed a lot more has been added without my sayso. |
