Office errors for new user

After creating a new NT user I found that word and excel documents would not autolaunch e.g. within Z drive/NT explorer.
However, when the word or excel programs were manually opened (using start-programs)first and minimised on the taskbar and then the same file was re-opened it was ok ?
It seems that word or excel do not autolaunch from z drive on NT explorer - the program starts to launch in the background , windows installer starts but then it fails. This problem also happens when opening word/excel email attachments.

I have deleted the user and reinstalled Office 2000 - but still no luck ?
