How do I move old email to Netscape 7.1 from old computer?
How do I import my old email files from a different computer onto my new computer? I just installed Netscape 7.1 on this new machine, and I was using Netscape 4.7 on the old one. THANKS!

Welcome to PC-Mech Richard Boydstun!!!!!
![]() Do you know where they are saved at on your hard drive from the old computer? If so, then either use a floppy disk or if you have CD-RW copy them to a disk and simply transfer them that way. That also means you need to know where to put them on the new computer. So hopefully you know what folders each program is using for the email. I wish I could help you further, but I do not use Netscape anymore. Good Luck!

Netscape 4.7 doesn't have an export function for messages, just the address book. Look in program files\netscape\users\(username - mine is just "default")\mail - there should be a file called inbox and one called inbox.snm - along with a bunch of other files. Copy the whole folder. Export the address book to a file.
7.1 has an import function to bring everything in, point it to where you copied the mail folder. Save your bookmark.htm file from the root of your username, 7.1 can import that too. |
