i can't connect to the internet on my pc

I'm on my laptop, which is networked through a 4 port router on my network. it gets on the internet just fine obviously. for some reason my box will not. it gets an IP adress and sends and receives packets just fine. I can connect to my laptop through the box but it wont get on the internet. ***? i've released and renewed it's IP, done the same for my ISP IP as well, still nothing. anyone got ideas? oh yeah win2k on both machines.

When you say "can't get on the Internet" can you be more specific, please? Webpages all not found? No e-mail? No FTP? No instant messaging?

Open a command prompt and ping www.yahoo.com - what exactly does it say? It should say something like this:

C:\>ping www.yahoo.com

If you have a software firewall running on it, close it, see what happens.

What model router?

alright here's the deal. sorry for not being so specific. when i ping yahoo it doesn t' even resolve its adress. unknown host. now if i plug in my modem directly to my pc it's all fine. as soon as i goes to the router it won't hit the internt, but i can connect to the rest of my network and I do get a link light. and all the rest of my network computers have no problem connecting to the internet. i can also ping other computer on my network. I have no idea what's going on. speedstream router.

If it's successful, you aren't getting DNS transfer to that machine.
