Windows XP backup program

OK this is what I did

I installed the Backup program from my XP cd and backed up everything on my HD (this was done on my Desktop computer listed below)

Now what I'd like to know is if something goes wrong were I can't get the system back the why it was can I just restore the backup I made over top whats all ready there or over a new install of XP if it becomes unbootable ?????

I seems to easy that's why I had to ask

LOL

On my desktop listed below I backed up all files ( all 9 gig's or so) and system state to my 20 gig HD that isnt moniterd by system restore

I just needed to know if it will really restore my files and system state back the why they were if XP becomes unfixable

Thanks

Windows XP backup program

glc I forgot to ask would it be a good idea to start XP (if possable) in safe mode to restore a backup to an earlier point or will it really matter?

It all depends exactly what you are trying to restore.

I'd try that. Install XP without the second drive in, shut down, hook up the second drive, restart again, make sure the second drive is seen, then restart in safe mode and do a complete restore, overwriting everything. This assumes backup will run in safe mode - I don't know if it will or won't.
