I wounld to purchase a photo image software. some people say photoshop is the best. I'm looking for something pretty simple to use and not alot of money. I trying to use it to take color photo, turn them into a black white sketch if possible. Thanks for your help.

There's also Photoshop Elements. It's a stripped down version of Photoshop. It's still plenty powerful for 99% of the home users out there. And I believe it comes with the plugin that will do what you want.

If you are also in the market for a scanner, check out the included software with the scanners, often these apps are included and for about the cost of a scanner or the software: you can get both the hard and the soft ware.

Photoshop elements will do what you want for about 70.00, there are a whole slew of sketch filters from crayons to charcoal to chrome. The only problem I have ever had with photoshop is the lack of time to really dig into it to use it to anywhere near it's potential.

Irfanview *might* do what you need - it's a free download and worth trying, nothing to lose. There's a bunch of plugins for it too - again, nothing to lose.

I have this on my laptop and PhotoShop 7 on my PC and I rather use jasc software...it is easire to use. I guess it also depends on your level of knowledge and what you are looking to do with it.

There are certain limitations with most "cheaper" photo edeting programs...and that is why PS is the Industry leader...
