Dragon Naturally Speaking 5
It won't install. I have installed it 5 times and every time I try to run it, it says "Naturally Speaking isn't installed completely. Please try reinstalling.". I click on Details and it says, "Can't find the file 'C:WINDOWS\speech\speech.dll'". I had it installed before I reformated and it worked fine. It works on my other computer too. Any ideas?

If it functions on your other computer have you tried copying the speech.dll file from the machine that it functions on to the machine that has problems?

If it doesn't work, post back, as I have Dragon Naturally Speaking 7, and perhaps the .DLL from that would work with your version, and would be easy to e-mail you the file.

I'm assuming you're using XP, you need to download a speech file from Microsoft for NS5 to work, Info is available on the Dragon website.

I found an article on the website and I got it to work. Thank you. Now I don't have to touch the keyboard or mouse for anything.
I still use them, just not as much. The only problem I have now is when I say "click close" it brings up the menu at the top left of the window that says minimize, maximize, restore, etc. instead of closing the window. Any ideas on that?

I'm just curious, but what did the article say, and how did you fix it?
As for the liitle box when you click close you may just have to live with it... Dragon Naturally Speaking 7 does the same thing. I would think that if it really bothers you that much, you should read the "commands" section of your manual to see if there is any way to get rid of it. |

Did you try the website? http://support.broderbund.com/customer_serv_help.asp
For your information, I do not know what you are expecting, but this program works by you speaking into a microphone on word at a time real slow, then you grab the mouse and left click and drag to highlight what the program just typed on the screen. Next you use the keyboard to type in what you really wanted, then you repeat the above. |
